North Reading Rotary - A Message from the Club President

Rotary Internationals theme for 2011-2012 is "Reach Within to Embrace Humanity."As Rotarians, we seek opportunities to communicate our Rotary motto - Service above Self.

I am honored to serve as President of the Rotary Club of North Reading for 2011-2012. It will be difficult to follow Past President Doug Mercurio, who inspired the club during 2010-2011, and did an incredible job organizing a District Managed Grant which was utilized to install refrigeration at the North Reading food pantry.

I became a Rotarian to work with a diverse caring group of business owners and professionals. Rotary membership adds meaning to my life through service to others.

The club sponsored the "All Night Party" and scholarships for graduating seniors at North Reading High School, installed child safety seats, participated in the American Cancer Society, North Reading, Relay for Life, installed refrigeration at the food pantry and sang Christmas carols for the residents of the North Reading Housing Authority. We will continue this outreach and sponsor both local and international literacy, explore sponsoring both Early Act and Rotaract Clubs, sponsor RYLA candidates and remain vigilant of all volunteer opportunities.

My goal this year is to foster community and international service as members provide solace, comfort and understanding to the less fortunate. I invite you to join us in fellowship and service. Not only will you be helping others, but you will personally benefit from the Rotary affiliation by developing better leadership and giving skills.
